The Grayslake Area Public Library District is seeking a maintenance worker 8.75 hours per week. The schedule is
every other Friday, 3:00pm-7:00pm and one day per weekend alternating between Saturday, 9:00am to 5:30pm and
Sunday, 12:30pm to 6:00pm. The library is closed on Sundays from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
Other evenings and weekends will be required as needed.
This position is responsible for cleaning, light maintenance and repair of the library building and grounds. This
part-time position includes evenings and weekends.
A high school diploma or equivalent and basic knowledge of cleaning and routine maintenance are required. Previous
maintenance experience is preferred but not necessary.
The successful applicant has high standards for cleanliness and sanitary conditions, takes pride in their work,
and is willing to try new tasks. The candidate must be dependable, accurate, organized, flexible in scheduling,
friendly, cooperative and strive for excellence in services provided to Grayslake Library patrons and staff. The
candidate must handle emergency situations in a calm manner.
The primary functions of the position include but are not limited to the following:
• Performs a variety of tasks in the maintenance, upkeep and cleaning of library building and grounds.
• Conducts the general cleaning of the library including dusting, vacuuming, restrooms, floors, furniture, windows
and other areas.
• Maintains library grounds including sidewalk snow removal, salting and removing litter.
• Sets up and breaks down meeting room furniture and equipment.
Applicants must have the ability to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, handle, finger, feel,
maintain mobility and balance, work on a ladder, demonstrate good eye-hand coordination, lift 50-60 lbs., see
near, far and color, speak, hear, drive vehicles and operate power machinery.

Hourly rate is from $11.20. Benefits include pro-rated time paid time off including two weeks vacation, sick days,
holidays and two personal days. Participation in life insurance and a deferred compensation plan are optional.
